AUTHOR TO VISIT CHILDREN AT CPS, NCCS, APS, SARAH PORTER, AND WALPOLE PRIMARY
Where is Detective Dinosaur's hat? Why does his shoe squeak? What is making a clanging noise in the dark alley? Boys and girls in our Title 1 schools will soon solve those dinosaur mysteries!
During the month of April author James Skofield will meet with the children and tell them how Chief Tyrannosaurus, Deputy Diplodocus, and Office Pterodactyl help Detective Dinosaur discover the answers. We are in for a treat!
James Skofield is an author from Walpole who has written several children's books. Some of his well-known ones are Snow Country, All Wet! All Wet!, Crow Moon, Worm Moon, Detective Dinosaur, Detective Dinosaur, Lost and Found, and Nightdances. Teachers will be reading several of the books to the children prior to his visits. The author will gladly autograph any of his books that children might want to bring from home.
Author Natalie Kinsey-Warnock gave a presentation to families on the evening of March 16 at the Charlestown Primary School. It was exciting to see families from all our district Title 1 primary schools joining us! We hope all of you who were able to attend had an enjoyable evening and were inspired to write down YOUR family stories! Thank you for coming to meet Natalie and encouraging your child to be an author in your family.
Title 1 is a federally funded, state administered, and locally operated program designed to strengthen education programs for students. The local school district determines the needs of its students, develops a project, submits it to the State Education office for approval and then operates the program.
Dear Parents/Guardians of Charlestown Primary School:
I am writing to inform you that Charlestown Primary School has been identified by the New Hampshire Department of Education as a “School in Need of Improvement” in the areas of reading and mathematics. This notice will also describe the school choice option parents/guardians have for their children and our plans for improved performance for all children.
Some children at Charlestown Primary School may be eligible to receive free tutoring through the No Child Left Behind Legislation. This year is the first year Charlestown Primary School will be offering Supplemental Education Services.
Letters to those students who qualify will be sent home in October 2009. Eligibility will be based on participating in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program and academic need.*
